About Dr. Z

Highlights

I completed undergraduate degrees in Nursing and Religion, plus a Masters in Public Health Education. I finished medical school and my Preventive Medicine residency at Loma Linda University in Southern California, where I then stayed on board as an Assistant Professor for clinical medicine. I’ve been a Keynote Speaker for the Breast Cancer Early Detection Program and worked in Breast Cancer research at Johns Hopkins. I’ve served as a Primary Care physician with Indian Health, Veteran’s Hospitals, College Health Services, and clinics for homeless and underserved populations. I’ve fulfilled the coursework for certification through the Institute for Functional Medicine. I’m very proud to be Board Certified in Integrative Medicine. This is only the second year that the American Board of Physician Specialties has offered and accredited Boards in any field of Holistic Medicine, so we are in the midst of historic breakthroughs in validating science-based natural medicine.

I’m excited to be part of the Apex Energetics National Speaker team, led by the legendary Dr. Datis Kharrazian, whose mission is to provide cutting-edge and science-guided Functional Medicine education for healthcare professionals. I was also honored to join Bill Sears, MD’s (Author of “The Baby Book”) Wellness Team in 2016. I wholeheartedly shared their vision and dedication to creating effective health and wellness solutions. Beginning October 2017, I’ve joined the staff of the Susan Samueli Center for Integrative Medicine. I am very excited to be on the forefront of the nation’s first university-wide enterprise to embed integrative health approaches in research, teaching and patient care.
